Ludlow has many buildings of historical and architectural interest, some of which have been studied in considerable detail (click on the links for further details, and use your browser΄s 'Back' button to return). These include:

• The parish church of St Laurence

• The former Royal castle

• Norman buildings such as St Thomas΄s Chapel

• Medieval buildings such as the Readers House together with the town wall and its gatehouses

• Jacobean buildings such as The Feathers

• Georgian buildings such as the Butter Cross and the Dinham Hall Hotel

• Victorian buildings such as the Ball Room, Workhouse (now the core of the Community Hospital) and the stables in the former goods yard of the railway station

• 20th Century buildings such as the Library & Museum Resource Centre

Many of the streets effectively retain a feeling of their ancestry, for instance:

• Market Street with its shops developed on the original medieval stall layout

• the Jacobean courtyard of Quality Square

• the Georgian elegance of Upper Broad Street

• Gravel Hill with its Victorian suburban villas

• Sandpits Road with its mid 20th Century housing and parkland

• Rocks Green with its early 21st Century low carbon footprint suburban development

The ecclesiastical heritage is also rich, with:

• the medieval parish churches of St Laurence and St Giles, together with two monasteries (destroyed during the Reformation): off Lower Galdeford and Lower Corve Street

• the Victorian Zion chapel (now private dwellings) and St John

• the mid 20th Century Roman Catholic church of St Peters

• the late 20th Century Rockspring Baptist Church

• the early 21st Century frontage to the late Victorian edifice of the Methodist Church
